Literacy Conference Date

Literacy Poster - October 2012On Thursday 25 October 2012, The Jurassic Coast Teaching Schools Alliance will host its first one day Literacy Conference at Haselbury Mill, Near Crewkerne in Somerset.

The Literacy Conference will explore the importance of Literacy, and Reading in particular, at all levels and for all pupils, although the speakers plan to focus on Years 5 to 10. It is hoped that the day will be both highly informative and inspiring.

The theme is Creating a Reading Culture, as many consider this to be the key to the effective development of Literacy skills. There will be a combination of the inspirational and the very practical.

The aim of the Conference will be to share good practices of literacy across the region. A number of speakers have already been confirmed for the event, including the renowned children’s authors Philip Reeve and Ellen Renner, a representative from Ofsted and the Professor of Education at The University of Exeter, Debra Myhill.
