The first half term ended on the 26th October with a joint Woodroffe/Primary Pyramid training day – now an annual event. The day covered a range of themes, including Literacy, following on from the very successful JCTSA Literacy conference, and a selection of procedural topics like performance management updates. It was also an opportunity to launch one of the first new sets of Trios.
Trio working has been operating successfully at Woodroffe for a few years now and a couple of years ago it was agreed that we would roll out this method of working across our primary pyramid (all schools in the pyramid are in our teaching school alliance). Last year ended with a series of presentations from the Trio groups (see the Research tab on the website for some brief summaries) and it was agreed that we would continue to expand the trio network.
This year we will be running a range of Trio activities, though due to the topics involved we have now broadened the title to ‘collaborative working’:
- In- house Trios at Woodroffe
- Cross Pyramid Trios (with one member of staff from Woodroffe and two from two of our pyramid schools
- Teaching School Alliance Trios linking three of the alliance schools
- Trios operating independently in alliance schools (as at Axe Valley, for example).
The progress of each of the trios will be monitored as part of the leadership research project and the findings published on this website.
The 31st October saw the first meeting of the new pyramid Trio group and each will now set about choosing/refining a topic/question to pursue as they work together across the year.
